Film:
Cop Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) ist seinen Job los, seit er seinen Freund Dom Toretto, Gangsterboss und Liebhaber von Straßenrennen, vor der Verhaftung bewahrt hat. Aber jetzt ist er mit seinem alten Freund Roman Pearce (Tyrese) wieder in Miami. Um einer Disziplinarstrafe zu entgehen ermittelt er undercover für seine ehemaligen Kollegen: Brian hilft der schönen Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes) bei den Ermittlungen gegen einen undurchsichtigen Geschäftsmann. Die Bildschärfe und die Detailauflösung sind in allen Szenen sehr hoch, wodurch eine schöne Bildtiefe erzeugt wird. Durch Digital Grading wurde dem Film ein farbenfroher Look mit überhöhtem Kontrast verpasst. Da der Film im Super 35 Format gedreht wurde, ist etwas Filmkorn zu erkennen. Anti-Rauschfilter kamen glücklicherweise kaum zum Einsatz, wodurch kein stehendes Rauschen zu sehen ist.

All scenes offer a very high picture sharpness and detail resolution, so that there is a pleasant sense of depth noticeable. By means of the digital grading the film looks saturated, warm and offers a “hot” contrast. As the movie was shot on Super 35 the picture offers some film grain. Luckily no DVNR was applied, so there is no static/frozen noise evident.

Im Gegensatz zu dem ersten Film “The Fast and the Furious” gibt es in “2 Fast 2 Furious” viele Szenen die ohne Musik auskommen. Trotzdem gibt es auch sehr viele Surround-Effekte und vor allem bei Auto-Szenen haben die hinteren Lautsprecher einiges zu tun. Allerdings ist die Soundkulisse einen Hauch schlechter als bei “The Fast and the Furious”. Der englische Ton in DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 (48 kHz/24 Bit) klingt eine Spur räumlicher, klarer und auch druckvoller als der deutsche 5.1-DTS-Ton (48 kHz/24 Bit, 768 kbps). Den deutschen Ton hätte man problemlos in einem Lossless-Format auf die Disc packen können, wenn man dann zur Platz- und Bandbreiteneinsparung sowohl die englische als auch die deutsche Tonspur in Dolby TrueHD oder DTS HD Master Audio mit 16 Bit statt 24 Bit encodierte. Platz ist auf der Scheibe noch genügend frei (ca. 11 GB) und die Gesamtdatenrate springt kein einziges Mal über 40 Mbps, so dass noch 8 Mbps an Bandbreite frei wären.

“The Fast and the Furious” features almost no scene without music. But “2 Fast 2 Furious” is different. There are a lot of scenes where only sound effects and no music can be heard. There are a lot of surround effects and a nice deep bass. Mainly car racing scenes offer a lot of work for the rear loudspeakers. “2 Fast 2 Furious” does not sound as good as “The Fast and the Furious”. The English lossless track encoded as DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 (48 kHz/24 Bit) offers a better spatiality, much clearer sound and more punch than the German audio track encoded as DTS (48 kHz/24 Bit, 768 kbps). It should not be a big deal to upgrade the German track to lossless audio. In order to save some space and bandwidth the bit rate has to be reduced by encoding both the German and English audio tracks as Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio with 16 instead of 24 Bit. There is enough space left on the disc (ca. 11 GB) and the total bitrate jumps never above 40 Mbps which offers additional bandwith of 8 Mbps for audio tracks. |
